Why it’s high-time for businesses to think seriously about going mobile?

Posted by avijit.bajpai on December 8, 2010

You might’ve heard a lot about mobile optimization of your website, or even the opportunities that exist in the smartphone apps business. This whole smartphone stuff and getting your business site optimized for this might appear geeky in the first place. It even looks burdensome at times. If this is the case, you have to come out of these frosty clouds of misconceptions and exploit these powerful handheld devices to strengthen your business. Besides, with some new stats in our hand, you’d perhaps love doing this.

Smartphone adoption in some of the leading European markets, including that of UK, has already surpassed 60 million, and it’s all geared up to overtake PCs as the most preferred web access device, a research from the analytics firm Sequence claims. This flourishing market brings in an ocean of opportunities for businesses of all sizes. This would help businesses in maintaining personalized contacts with their potential customers and influencing their buying decisions.

If these staggering numbers aren’t substantial enough to persuade you to go mobile, then another research from Accenture might let you change your mind. According to the survey, 73 percent of the respondents prefer using smartphones for handling their routine chore at stores. That’s not just it, as around 71 percent of the people rely on their smartphones to check out stores with some desired item in stock.

Evidently, smartphones have ushered in a big transformation in the way businesses are being done. They have become instruments to help businesses interact with their customers and influence their decisions. These gadgets have become channels that are in any way insane to ignore. With a large number of businesses going mobile, the focus would largely be on serving users with practical, branded, or entertaining content to keep them engaged. And engagement is the catch-word in today’s marketing lexicon. So, just don’t be left out of the wave, and start endeavoring before its too late.
